SBAY.ORG November 2005 Elections
As is now our annual routine,
we need to officially fill in names on the ballot for all the
officer positions and the seats on the Board of Directors.
We've asked participants from all parts of sbay.org to consider
whether they can help serve in one of these leadership positions.
See the
SBAY.ORG Status Report for 2005
for a summary of what's been going on across the organization.
Nominations took place from October 30 to November 10.
Voting is open from 5PM Tuesday, November 15, 2005 to 5PM Friday November 18.
Voting URLs were mailed to eligible voters - currently the subscribers
of any mail lists of sbay.org, SVLUG, Stratofox, Linux Picnic and

In 2004, all four Director seats were up for initial election.
In order to implement the staggered elections in the By-Laws,
the top two winners by vote count were given 2-year terms and
the next two winners were given 1-year terms.
So with this year's election and going forward, only two Director seats
expire each year, and will have two-year terms.
More seats may be up for election only if there are vacancies to fill.
Note about membership in sbay.org and SIGs:
- All candidates in the sbay.org election must be members of sbay.org.
- Leaders of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are required to be
members of sbay.org.
- Participants in SIGs are not required to join sbay.org.
(Several of the SIGs had been independent organizations before joining
SBAY.ORG, and had traditions of free participation before.)
However we want to point out that joining sbay.org will help support
all the organizations in sbay.org.
- Voting in the sbay.org election requires joining sbay.org.
- Voting in the SVLUG election will require only subscription to
one of SVLUG's mail lists.
- Annual membership dues in sbay.org have been set at $10 in the By-Laws -
this will begin to be collected when a Treasury is established.
Until then, we're accepting votes from participants in good faith that
they will join the organization.
