SBAY.ORG November 2006 Elections

On this Page...

The election is done. See the results.

For SBAY.ORG's election of the 2007 Officers and Board of Directors, we're assembling the list of names and will vote on them on November 5-7.

A major By-Laws amendment is under review and voting which, assuming it passes, will change the membership structure of SBAY.ORG. The organization was briefly going to have memberships based on collection of dues. But that change was moving too far away from our organization's roots. Only a handful of members paid dues before the decision was made to change to a 501(c)3 non-profit which does not use dues and where memberships have no expiration, modeled with some similarity to the Apache Software Foundation's membership structure. So the dues-paid members will convert to the first members under the new non-dues non-expiring membership structure. They will be the initial members to vote in a slate of nominated new members. As of that time, the old and new members will be the ones who can vote in the election for the Officers and Board of Directors. Membership is also required to be a corporate officer, to hold a seat on the Board of Directors or to be an officer of any SIG.

Nominations

Nominations for new members or for officer and director candidates should be sent to nom2007@sbay.org .

If you're volunteering to run for a position in the election, please make sure to get a nomination for membership if you aren't already officially a member of sbay.org. Just ask around - the Board of Directors, any SIG or any three members can nominate new members. We expect a fairly large initial group of new members for the election.

Note that nominations for membership should indicate who made the nomination. Nominations of candidates can only be from the candidate, or with their approval.
